They Never Claimed To Be Angels...

...just innocent of the crimes they were accused of. The Duke men's lacrosse team will be in the news for a long time as the media digs up more dirt on them after the charges against them were dropped. It makes sense, really. There are a lot of people who are not happy with this and there are even more who are down right embarrassed for making such a stink about this in the first place.

No these boys/men are not angels. The were acting like so many other college kids do when the dookies got accused of rape and a small list of other charges. MSNBC has the story of "what really went on" that night. It is interesting and if you are a parent with college age kids, it may be an eye opener.

Yes, the boys/men are white, go to a very prestigious school, and are affluent...but they acted no differently than any number of "college boys" would in similar circumstances. This was purely a racially charged issue, from the comments made by the attendees at the party, ("We asked for whites, not n-----s."), to the response from one of the strippers ("That's a racial slur, a hate crime..."). Also in the mix was a white prosecutor up for reelection in a city that is 40% black...no he wasn't playing the race card, was he?

The press did a good job of keeping the flow of evidence public, but some of the press seemed to take delight in using the circumstances of the "victim" (single mother and college student, working as a stripper to make ends meet). It seemed to be a ploy to gain sympathy, but more and more things kept coming out, like the lack of DNA evidence link the team to the crime, but implicating up 3 other (yet unidentified) men. Another interesting fact was that the defendant made a similar allegation 10 years ago...3 white males raping and assaulting her. She changed her story many times, a clear clue that either she was raped or that she is a liar. We may have found our answer.

All that aside...what good can come of a situation with naked women, alcohol, and college boys? I realize I am far from innocent, but these two women were not thinking clearly by going to a "frat house" atmosphere to try to make some money. Could they not see that this was an open door to disaster...or was it their plan all along?
