In one blog (and I do not know which one), the blogger stated that Durham, NC was not predominantly black in population. I guess that depends on the definition.
Racial diversity is good and I think I have seen more bigotry here in TX than I did in NC (I lived in Durham for 12 years).
White persons, percent, (200 census) 45.5%
Black or African American persons, (2000 census) 43.8%
Looks about the same to me.
